Jesse James (Rogers) and his gang learn of some outlaws attempting to drive off some Missouri settlers from their land.  James commits a string of train robberies in order to obtain money for the settlers so they can keep their land.  Complications arise for James when one of the outlaws turns out to be a lookalike of him and the double sets out to discredit James and cause his arrest.
