Sgt. Doubleday (William Tracy) is the pride of his Colonel, Barkley, due to his photographic memory.  After accidentally embarrassing firearms instructor Sgt. Ames because of his book memorization, Doubleday is mistaken for an expert marksman.  Doubleday is set up in a firing range match with Sgt. Ames and Sgt. Cobb, the division’s shooting champions.
