An introvert lady is staying in Monte Carlo with her arrogant boss. There she encounters the rich Maxim de Winter. They fall for each other and marry immediately. He brings her to his large territory in Cornwall, called Manderlay. Max still has a problem coping with the death of his first wife, Rebecca. She passed away in a boating accident the previous year. The new Mrs. de Winter has problems with the housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers. She quickly discovers that Rebecca surrounds the life of everyone at Manderlay.
