The Bumsteads go to Aunt Hannah’s ranch for the 4th of July to spend a quaint and nice time there. They take a ride with a random young couple who are about to run away and get married after they miss their train. Dagwood ends up carrying the young girl after Charlie, her boyfriend, sprains his ankle. Dagwood being Dagwood accidentally enters through her father's window. Her father is angered by all of this and to make matters worse, Baby Dumpling gets hold of a firecracker that is a stick of dynamite and explodes. There is also oil involved. You can only imagine.
