Six years ago, 'Lightning' Bill carson (Tim McCoy) was framed for the murder of the leader of a scientific expedition. He learns of another group of explorers traveling to Mexico to search for an Indian burial ground, and adopts the persona of the legendary Mexican bandito El Puma. Carson reaches the expedition, just as the leader is stabbed to death, with the murder blamed on El Puma. Accused of two murders he didn't commit, Carson begins searching for the buried treasure and the real murderer, and eventually finds both.
