Frank Burdon has a new job as being the reporter of a small-town Scottish paper. The first job he receives is to interview local politician William Gow, while having to take care of the paper overnight. He discovers Gow providing money for a woman who does not have the funds to license her dog and decides to write about that instead of the interview. Both men have too much pride to forget about the article and it turns into a criminal case. Only problem is Burdon and Gow’s daughter, Victoria are beginning to have strong feelings for each other.
