Windy (George ‘Gabby’ Hayes) sends for Hopalong after two murders in the town of Mesa Grande. Along the way Hopalong encounters Lilli Marsh (Evelyn Brent) who falls for Hopalong after he helps her. The romance is complicated by the fact that Lilli owns a saloon and runs the band of outlaws responsible for the lawlessness of the area.

(This movie is unique in the Hopalong series as it includes Hopalong’s little brother, Buddy Cassidy (William Janney) and a love interest for Hopalong.)
