" The Bridge of Sighs " is not the Venetian one but the connecting bridge between the Law courts and The Tombs (the House of Detention) in Manhattan. Assistant District Attorney Jeffery Powell (Onslow Stevens) has helped put an innocent man in prison for murder. However, he doesn't know that Marion Courtney (Dorothy Tree), the woman he is in love with, is the sister of that innocent man. Willing to do anything for her brother, Marion commits a crime to put herself in prison, in order to gain proof from inmate Evelyn 'Duchess' Thane that her brother is innocent of the murder. Complications occur when Jeffery believes that Marion is in love with the man whose cause she is championing.
