Varlia Lloyd, daughter of one of the backers, is a huge supporter of Robinson as well as Richard’s wife, Ruth. Richard being away all the time on the project puts a stain on their marriage as well as his relationship with their son. The project continues to proceed as Richard’s marriage and his friendship with Robinson disintegrate.
