Jim Carter buys McWade's carnival concession and marries Betty. An inspector informs him the pier is dangerous, but Carter bribes him to make the information go away. Problems arise for Carter when the pier collapses, causing the inspector to kill himself. Pop McWade is left with injuries and Carter is sent to trial. Betty leaves him, leaving Carter to start over in another dangerous project.
