After watching an innocent man become convicted of murder due to circumstancial evidence, reporters Jim Baldwin (Chick Chandler) and Spike Horton (Lee Moran) set out to prove how unreliable circumstantial evidence is by staging their own fake murder with another reporter. However, the reporter ends up dead himself, and Jim is convicted of the murder by circumstantial evidence. Just before he is executed, Jim manages to escape and works to track down the real killer.
