Golden has a problem with gambling and has made a promise to his wife Virginia that he will stop the gambling once he has raised $200,000. Problems arise for him when he starts a fight and angers a criminal, Mossiter, which results in losing his winnings to him. He takes his wife's jewels for collateral and takes out an insurance policy on himself.
