Don Maxwell is a former vaudeville actor who becomes the assistant of a mad scientist named Dr. Meirschultz who reanimates corpses. Maxwell is wanted by the police, but his talents for impersonation helps Meirschultz enter a morgue where they use a special serum to bring back the corpse of an attractive woman. Dr. Meirschultz tells Maxwell to commit suicide in order to insert a heart in him, but Maxwell shoots the doctor instead. He impersonates the doctor, so no one will wonder where he is and begins to go crazy himself.
