This 1934 MGM release, Mama’s Little Pirate, was directed by Gus Meins and was the first Our Gang / Little Rascals comedy involving fantasy.
When Spanky hears his dad talking about a treasure found in a cave nearby he gets the bright idea to go treasure hunting with the gang. But when he goes home to retrieve a flashlight his mom finds out his plans and sends him to his room, forbidding him to go exploring in the dark caves.
Soon however, Spanky defies his mother’s order and is leading the gang into a deep, dark cave where the find a huge treasure chest – but also find an enormous footprint and a very large chair. Obviously, there’s a giant somewhere! Trying to ignore that fact, the gang manages to find a huge treasure of jewels and gold and are celebrating when suddenly the giant appears!
