When a young English man is condemned of murder and ordered to be hung, his sister and her fiance step in to defend him. They request detective Charlie Chan to scrutinize the violation and find the real killer. Chan must visit an extravagant English country house where the suspicious suspects interchange from the housekeeper to a lawyer.
