The first feature length zombie movie, “White Zombie” depicts Beaumont as he tries to get the engaged Madeline to marry him. Every attempt turns out unsuccessful, so he enlists the help of Murder Legendre, a voodoo master who controls his plantation workers by turning them into zombies. He makes Madeline into a zombie, but Beaumont is unsatisfied with her emotionless state and wants her turned back. Murder refuses. In fact, he has been drugging Beaumont to also add him to his zombie collection. In the meantime, Madeline’s fiancé Neil searches for her, along with missionary Dr. Bruner. Bruner manages to kill Murder, awakening Madeline from her zombie state.
