(1932)

79 minutes

Fantasy / Adventure

aka "The Lost Atlantis"

Directed by Georg Wilhelm Pabst

Cast: Brigitte Helm, John Stuart, Gustav Diessl, Gibb McLaughlin, Mathias Wieman and Florelle

The film begins with legionnaire Saint-Avit coming back home a bit insane from the desert, destroyed over the death of his friend Morhange. He stays in a hospital where he regularly speaks as if he is hallucinating of what happened to him in the desert.

He recovers for a long time and then returns to Paris. A recollection of memories and dreams keep appearing of a crazy voyage. He retorts back with the Foreign Legion and goes to a frontier settlement in the Saraha. Two years have gone by and the desert seems to still be calling him. His friend Ferr wants to travel with him, but Saint-Avit asserts that he wants to go alone this time around. He opens up to Ferr for the first time that he killed Morhange and what really happened during his last trip. This is when the old memories start becoming clearer.
