This film is set in Chicago after World War I, where a young man named Jean falls in love with a beautiful girl named Edith. He asks for her hand in marriage, but returns back home to South Dakota after realizing she won’t leave the rackets she’s involved with. In South Dakota he becomes a successful rancher and falls for a white girl. Feeling guilt over his new relationship, he returns to Chicago where he marries Edith. She ends up being murdered and Jean is accused of the crime.
