Nan is the daughter of a criminal and in love with The Kid.  She wants him to join forces with her father, but he has no interest in being a criminal, which does not support the fancy lifestyle Nan is used to.  Things change for her after she is arrested in connection to a murder.  The Kid joins the gang in order to set her free.  After she is released, she has no interest in the mob life and tries to get The Kid to leave.
