Zeke is a sharecropper who falls in love with a beautiful dancer named Chick in a juke joint. He ends up losing $100 he received in the sale of his family’s cotton crop after she sets him up in a craps game. A shoot out follows the game, which leaves his brother Spunk severely injured. Zeke leaves town and returns as Brother Zekiel the preacher. He has a way with words that catches the attention of everyone, including Chick. Zekiel is interested in Missy Rose and asks for her hand in marriage, but Chick won’t let that happen.
