This film is set during the end of World War I where Americans Sgt. Peter O'Gaffney and one of his soldiers, W. Dangerfield Phelps III, are captured and taken to a POW camp in Northern Germany. They don’t have the best relationship for Phelps feels O’Gaffney is always bossing him around. The two become closer at camp since they are both determined to escape. On a snowy day, they escape by stealing white robes to camouflage themselves. From there they begin an adventure in which they are mistaken for Arab prisoners.
