Johnny Fay helps an ambitious music hall performer find success and then marries. They have a child three years later. Fannie is offered a job by musical comedy producers, Bronson and Baron in a New York nightclub, but only if she leaves Johnny, which she declines. When it is discovered they have a child, Fannie and Johnny are fired from the job, which leads Fannie desperately accepting the Bronson and Baron offer. Fannie has thoughts of divorcing Johnny, but after hearing him sing on the radio, she changes her mind.
