The gang is being kept at Happyland Home Orphanage, a place that is neither happy nor homelike. They are under the control and mistreated by the very stern headmistress, with their only friend being a good man named Uncle Tom who sneaks them extra food.
Things go from bad to worse when Farina overhears orders for the chef to prepare chicken to eat, but misunderstands and thinks the orders are about the orphans – to cut off their heads and cook them!
Uncle Tom once again comes to the rescue and helps the gang escape from the orphanage, but the authorities are soon on their trail and the kids are returned. Luckily, a judge hears the kids’ story and orders that things at the orphanage are improved, with better treatment for all the kids.
