The film is set in a small American town during 1895, where Joe has invented a car with a gasoline motor. The whole town thinks he is a joke, but the only person who does believe in him is his girlfriend. After he makes some profit on his new invention, another woman tries to get his attention, leaving his girlfriend to doubt their relationship. She is the only one that can help him when he runs into problems during a race.
