A young woman persuades a farmer’s wife to enlist her as a maid. She is given an engagement ring by a salesman who is interested in her after selling cloth to the wife. The salesman runs into some problems with money since he is a gambler and tells the maid he will not be able to marry her until he has money for them. She irrationally steals money from the husband and wife during the night. She gives it to the gambler and he gets on a train to leave town. The maid ends up feeling remorse for what she did and leaves the farm. She runs into the gambler after he is kicked off the train for a fight. She recovers the money and goes back to the farm. The couple never even knew the money was gone.
