RON HOWARD BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Ron Howard grew up to become one of the most well known named actor and director of his era.  He was born on March 1st, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma into a show business family as his father was an actor and director and his mother was a working actress.  The whole family, relocated to Burbank, California and were all in one way or another involved in the Hollywood lifestyle.  However, his parents made it a point to never let his stardom go to his head and they lived a middle class lifestyle and he attended Los Angeles public schools.

Growing up in the industry and being around it his entire life gave him the perspective of all different aspects of the acting world.  He was a young boy working as the character, 'Opie' on "The Andy Griffith Show" and he got to see being on set what the directors, producers and stage managers responsibilities were going into filming each episode.

He spent many years perfecting his craft as an actor on a number of television shows and films before he even became a teenager.  His most famous role was on the series, "Happy Days" (1974) which ran for a total of six years.  He is now today an actor turned director and has directed a number of successful films.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Cheryl and they have remained together for thirty four years.  He even has four children and a two year old grandchild.  His big break into directing came when a man by the name of Roger Corman hired Howard to works as the director in the low budget film, "Grand Theft Auto" (1977) which he agreed to act in for almost no pay just to have the opportunity to work as a director.  This film was followed by Howard directing the movie, "Night Shift" (1982).

He soon became one of the co founding members of Imagine Films Entertainment and the company has been the power house behind such films as, "Splash" (1984), "Parenthood" (1989), "Apollo 13" (1995), "A Beautiful Mind" (2001), "The Da Vinci Code" (2006) and "Frost/Nixon". (2008).  Ron Howard has a great sense of loyalty to those he has worked with and chooses to use a lot of the same actors in his films such as Tom Hanks and Russell Crowe.

Anyone who knows him and has worked with him speaks highly of Howard as an amazing man who never loses his temper and has a great sense of humility, despite his major professional success.  He is quoted as saying, "I definitely try to run my sets as a director in a way that mirrors what I remember feeling on the show".  He also tries to always make the set a comfortable environment for everyone working.  He allows the actors to bring their children to set if needed and although he was raised in the industry as a child, he did not allow any of his own biological children to pursue a career in the industry until adulthood.

Howard has not limited himself to directing on films, he has also taken on the challenges of working as a television director for the show, "Felicity" and the drama, "24".

Along with being an amazing family man and talented director, he also is involved in supporting charitable causes such as the Boys and Girls Clubs.  Ron won the Academy Award for “A Beautiful Mind” as the Director and also producer of the film.  He also was awarded a Golden Globe for it being best film.  In 2003 he was awarded the National Medal of Arts and also won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2004 for, "Arrested Development".

He continues to put his heart and sole into anything he does and with his directing of the film, "Cinderella Man" (2005) which was nominated for more than twenty two awards he continues to impress time and time again.

Howard currently lives in Connecticut with his wife, Cheryl, and their four children and is working on such upcoming projects as, "Dilemma' (2011) and "Dark Tower" (2012) a multiple fantasy by author, Stephen King.  He continues to explore the dramatic side of his craft and tries to avoid ever being type cast into directing one specific genre of films.
