Lawrence Kasdan DIRECTOR

Lawrence Kasdan was born on January 14th, 1949 in Miami, Florida.  He was raised in West Virginia After high school he studied at the University of Michigan majoring in education and after college first began working as a copywriter.

As his career in entertainment has progressed he has worked on all sides of the industry as a writer, actor, director and producer.  Kasdan began with working as a writer for such scripts as, "Body Heat" (1981) starring William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Richard Crenna, Ted Danson, J.A. Preston and Mickey Rourke, "Continental Divide" (1981) starring John Belushi and Blair Brown, "The Big Chill" (1983) starring Tom Berenger, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, William Hurt, Kevin Kline, Mary Kay Place, Meg Tilly and JoBeth Williams and "Silverado" (1985) starring Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner, John Cleese, Jeff Goldblum, Linda Hunt, James Gammon, Sheb Wooley, Thomas Wilson Brown, Joe Seneca, Jeff Fahey and Brian Dennehy.

Then in the mid 80's he tried his hand being in front of the camera appearing in the films, "Into the Night" (1985) starring Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Pfeiffer, Richard Farnsworth, David Bowie, Dan Aykroyd, Vera Miles and Clu Gulager, "I Love You to Death" (1990) starring Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, Joan Plowright, River Phoenix, Phoebe Cates, James Gammon, William Hurt and Keanu Reeves, "The Bodyguard" (1992) starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston plus Debbie Reynolds, Gary Kemp, Bill Combs and Ralph Waite and "Wyatt Earp" (1994) starring Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid, Gene Hackman, Isabella Rossellini, Mark Harmon, Michael Madsen, Joanna Going, Tom Sizemore, Bill Pullman, JoBeth Williams, Linden Ashby, Karen Grassle, James Gammon, Jim Caviezel and Mare Winningham and many more. 

As his career has progressed he has worked as a producer, writer and director on such films as, "Silverado" (1985), "The Accidental Tourist" (1988) starring William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Amy Wright, Bill Pullman, David Ogden Stiers, Ed Begley Jr. and Geena Davis, "Mumford" (1999) starring Hope Davis, Jason Lee, Alfre Woodard, Mary McDonnell, Martin Short, Ted Danson, David Paymer, Jane Adams, Robert Stack, Kevin Tighe and Zooey Deschanel, "Dreamcatcher" (2003) starring Morgan Freeman, Thomas Jane, Damian Lewis, Timothy Olyphant, Tom Sizemore, Eric Keenleyside, Jason Lee and Donnie Wahlberg and "Darling Companion" (2012) starring Diane Keaton, Kevin Kline, Sam Shepard, Dianne Wiest and Richard Jenkins, which he also appears in.

Lawrence Kasdan is currently married to Meg Kasdan as of 1971 and they have two children.  He remains working in the industry with some of his most recent films being in 2007 as an executive producer on, "In the Land of Women" and soon to release, "Jerusalem, I Love You".
