YVETTE MIMIEUX BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Yvette Mimieux was born on January 8th, 1942 in Hollywood, California with the birth name Yvette Carmen Mimieux to a French father and Mexican mother.  When she was growing up, she entered a beauty competition and was one of the four girls picked by Elvis Presley to come to the set where Elvis was filming Jail House Rock and compete to get a small part as a bathing suit girl on a film.  However, after coming to the set and modeling in her bikini, she was not the final girl to be chosen.  

This sparked her interest in an acting career and since she lived in Los Angeles she decided to pursue a career as an actress.  In 1959, MGM signed her to a contract and in 1960 she got a role in a teen movie called, "Where the Boys Are" followed by a roles in, "The Time Machine" (1960), "The Light in the Piazza" (1962) and "Diamond Head" (1963).  Her earlier career was more successful then her later films as many were commercial failure.  

Yvette did turn to television and appeared on a couple series such as, "Dr. Kildare" (1964) and the television movie, "The Legend of Valentino" (1975).  She also returned to films appearing in, "Jackson County Jail" (1976), "The Black Hole" (1979) and her final film role was in 1992 on the film, "Lady Boss". 
 
She married the film director Stanley Donen from 1972 through 1985 and had no children.  She then married Howard F. Ruby and Yvette then for the most part pulled away from her acting career and became involved in her other interests such as poetry, dancing, anthropology and working in business focusing on real estate.  She also bought a resort with her husband, Howard F. Ruby in Mexico called Beachhacienda.
