WOODROW PARFREY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Woodrow Parfrey was born on October 5th, 1922 in New York City, New York with the birth name Sydney Woodrow Parfrey. As a teenager he became an orphan and later joined the military during World War II where he became injured while fighting at the Battle of the Bulge and was captured by he Germans. He was later freed and after World War II, he began pursuing a career as an actor.
He received his acting training from Erwin Piscator at the New School for Social Research. Parfrey began his work as a stage actor appearing on Broadway between the 1940's and 1950's in such productions as, "Advise and Consent". He later began breaking into the film and television industry.
Some of his television credits included, "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", "Time Express", "Perry Mason", "Breaking Point", "Gunsmoke", "Have Gun - Will Travel", "Combat!", "That Girl", "Adam-12", "Bonanza", "Room 222", "Ironside", "Chase", Police Story" and "Quincy, M.E." among many others.
In addition to mostly television work, he did also appear in a number of feature films, some of which were, "Suspense" (1964), "Planet of the Apes" (1968) starring Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, James Whitmore and Kim Hunter, "Dirty Harry" (1971) starring Clint Eastwood and Harry Guardino, "Charley Varrick" (1973) starring Walter Matthau, Joe Don Baker and Felicia Farr, "Papillon" (1973) starring Steve McQueen, Dustin Hoffman and Anthony Zerbe and "Bronco Billy" (1980) starring Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke.
Woodrow Parfrey married only once to Rosa Ellovich in 1950 and they had four children together and remained married until he passed away on July 29th, 1984 in Los Angeles, California after suffering from a heart attack.
