WILLIS BOUCHEY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Willis Bouchey was born on May 24th, 1907 in Vernon, Michigan with the birth name Willis Ben Bouchey. His parents divorced when he was young and his mother re-married and relocated to the state of Washington where he was raised by his mother and step father.
His career as an actor spanned over thirty years and over the course of his career he would add over 150 film roles to his credits. Although he did not even make his first screen appearance until he was already 44 years old, he became a screen icon and was highly desired in the industry.
He never limited himself to portraying one specific type of character. Some of his more well known roles included, "From Here to Eternity" (1953) starring Burt Lancaster, Deborah Kerr, Montgomery Clift, Donna Reed, Frank Sinatra, Ernest Borgnine and Jack Warden, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (1962) starring John Wayne, James Stewart, Vera Miles, Edmond O'Brien, Lee Marvin, Woody Strode, John Carradine, Lee Van Cleef and Andy Devine, "The Horse Soldiers" (1959) starring John Wayne, William Holden, Althea Gibson, Constance Towers, Ken Curtis, Judson Pratt, Hank Worden, Strother Martin and Denver Pyle, "The Long Gray Line" (1955) starring Tyrone Power, Maureen O'Hara, Donald Crisp, Ward Bond, Philip Carey, Patrick Wayne, Peter Graves and Harry Carey Jr., "The Big Heat" (1953) starring Glenn Ford, Gloria Grahame, Lee Marvin, Jeanette Nolan and Carolyn Jones, "No Name on the Bullet" (1959) starring with Audie Murphy, Charles Drake, Virginia Grey, Whit Bissell, Warren Stevens, R.G. Armstrong and Karl Swenson and "Suddenly" (1954) starring Frank Sinatra, Sterling Hayden, Nancy Gates and James Gleason.
Many of his productions were done with the John Ford Stock Company under the direction of director, John Ford. Along with film work he added such television series credits as, "Pistols 'n Petticoats", "Lassie", "The Beverly Hillbillies", "The Bob Cummings Show", "Sugarfoot", "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin", "The Loretta Young Show", "Mr. and Mrs. North", "Perry Mason", "Sheriff of Cochise", "Ironside", "Saints and Sinners", "Bonanza", "Going My Way", "F Troop", "Green Acres", "Dragnet", "The Third Man", "Get Smart" and "The Andy Griffith Show" among many others.
On September 27th, 1977, Willis Bouchey passed away in Burbank, California.
