William Lundigan ACTOR

William Lundigan was born on June 12th, 1914 in Syracuse, New York.  he was the oldest of four boys and his father was a shoe store owner who worked in the same building as a local radio station.  As a young boy, William became interested in radio and was performing on the radio and by the age of sixteen he was already experienced in producing his own radio shows.
He attended college at Syracuse University with the initial goals to pursue a career in law and he also excelled in athletics, mainly football, basketball and tennis.
He also worked on a local radio station and was hired to do voice over for a commercial when Charles R. Rogers who was the head of production at Universal Studios, heard Lundigan's voice and tracked him down.
He started working with Universal but soon signed another contract with MGM and worked on the film, "Salute to the Marines" before he chose to enlist in the Marines during World War II.  MGM head boss, Louis B. Mayer was so upset that William chose to enlist, they dropped him from their contract.
After the war he returned to the film industry appearing in such films as, "Dodge City" (1939), "The Fighting 69th" (1940), "The Sea Hawk" (1940), "Santa Fe Trail" (1940), "Dishonored Lady" (1947), "Pinky" (1949), "Love Nest" (1951), "The House Telegraph" (1951), "I'd Climb the Highest Mountain" (1951) and "Inferno" (1953).
Along with a exceptional film career, he also worked as a host of such shows as "Climax!" (1954) and "Shower of Stars" (1954).  He is most well known for his role between 1959 and 1960 on the CBS series "Men Into Space".
He married only one time to Rena Morgan in 1945 and they had one child together and remained married until he passed away on December 20th, 1975 in Duarte, California from lung and heart congestion.
