WILL SMITH BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Will Smith was born on September 25th, 1968 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the birth name Williard Christopher Smith Jr. He was the second born to a total of four children to parents, Caroline and Williard C. Smith Sr. He graduated from Overbrook High School in Philadelphia and after high school began to try and pursue a career in music.
He became acquainted with Jeffrey A. Townes and the two young men formed a group called, "DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince" which did not take long to become quite popular. He won a Grammy Award for his song, "Summertime" and another Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for the song, "Parents Just Don't Understand" in 1989.
Their stardom soon led to him working as an actor on his first television series, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990) which lasted six years and was the breaking point in his acting career.
Soon Smith was appearing in a number of films such as, "Six Degrees of Separation" (1993), 'Bad Boys" (1995), "Independence Day" (1996), "Men in Black" (1997), "I, Robot" (2004), "I Am Legend" (2007), "Hancock" (2008) and one of his most successful films was, "The Pursuit of Happyness" (2006) for which he received an Oscar nomination.
Some of his latest film roles have been in, "Seven Pounds" (2008) and soon to release, "Men in Black III" (2012). Throughout his career he has received a number of honors such as being chosen by People's magazine as, "One of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World" and in 2005 Premiere Magazine ranked him #44 on a list of the Greatest Movie Stars of All Times. It is also well known that he is worth a huge fortune estimated around 188 million.
Throughout his lifetime he has married twice. His first wife was Sheree Smith whom he wed in 1992 and after having one child the marriage came to an end in 1995. He then married Jada Pinkett in 1997 and they have two children and remain married today.
He remains active in the industry and is also known for his many charitable contributions. He donated a total of $1.3 million to charities in 2007 and along with his current wife, they have founded a private elementary school in California that uses Study Technology to educate the children.
