VIVIAN BLAINE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Vivian Blaine was born on November 21st, 1921 in Newark, New Jersey with the birth name Vivian Stapleton. She began her career early on appearing on stage in 1934. It was her agent, Manny Franks who soon became her husband who signed her to an acting contract with Twentieth Century Fox. She moved out to Los Angeles, California and found work on such films as "Jitterbugs" (1943), "Greenwich Village" (1944), "Nob Hill" (1945) and "State Fair" (1945).
She also returned to working as a stage actress, making her Broadway debut on, "Goys and Dolls" (1950) followed by other stage roles in "A Hatful of Rain", "Say, Darling", "Enter Laughing" and "Zorba".
She also began making a number of television appearances on such series as, "Fantasy Island", "The Love boat" and "Murder She Wrote" (1985).
Along with a decent acting resume she also recorded a number of albums such as her cabaret act for AEI Records in 1983 and also made public announcements for AIDS-related causes. She retired from acting in 1985.
Blaine married a total of three times throughout her lifetime, first to Manny Franks from 1945 through 1956. She then married Milton Rackmil from 1959 through 1961. Her third and final marriage was to Stuart Clark from 1973 through her death at the age of seventy four on December 9th, 1995 in New York City, New York after suffering from congestive heart failure. She never had any children of her own.
She earned herself a National Film Society American Classic Award and between 1973 and 1983, she appeared on many "Best Dressed Women in America" lists.
