Vince Edwards ACTOR


Vince Edwards was born on July 9th, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York with the birth name Vincent Edward Zoino.  It parents were both Italian immigrants and as a young boy he already was developing an interest as an actor.  During High School he excelled I swimming and after High School he went on to attend Ohio State University on an athletic scholarship.  He had goals of being in the Olympics, but an appendix operation ruined his dream so he went on to pursue career as an actor.
He studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and began working as a stage actor in the 1940's.  Then in the 1950's, Paramount Pictures signed him to a contract actors agreement.  He made his film debut as, Vince Edwards in "Mr. Universe" (1951) followed by lead roles in such film as, "Murder by Contract" (1958) and "The Scavengers" (1959).
He gained a new level of popularity when he took on the role of Dr. Casey on the television series "Ben Casey" (1961)  This series ran until 1966 and he not only starred in the show but on occasional, directed certain episodes. 
Along with working as an actor, he released a number of musical albums and played at sold out shows in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.  When the television series ended he continued acting starring in the film "The Devil's Brigade" (1968) and then in 1988, he returned in the role of Dr. Casey in "Ben Casey".  His final film role was in 1995 in "The Fear".         
Edwards married a total of four times throughout his lifetime.  His first wife was Kathy Kersh whom he wed in 1965 and they had one child together before divorcing in 1965.  He then married Linda Foster from 1967 through 1972 and they had two children together.  He chose to marry for a third time to Cassandra Edwards in 1980 but this marriage was short lived and they had no children together.  He then married his fourth and final wife, Janet Friedman in 1994 and they remained together until he passed away on March 11th, 1996 in Los Angeles, California from pancreatic cancer.  He is buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
