VIC MORROW BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Vic Morrow was born on February 14th, 1929 in The Bronx, New York City, New York and at the age of seventeen he dropped out of high school to join the United States Navy.  When he completed his service he studied law at Florida State on the G.I Bill.  While in College he participated in a school production and realized how much he enjoyed acting.

He relocated back to New York and enrolled in the Actors Studio to work on his acting skills.  This followed with being cast in a summer stock play called, "A Streetcar Named Desire".  Soon, Morrow was getting film roles with his film debut on, "Blackboard Jungle" (1955) under his contract with MGM.

He faced one issue and that was, he was typecast as a 'Heavy' in every film he was cast in, therefore, he left his contract with MGM and decided to return to school and further his education at USC in directing.

He continued to work in the industry while studying making a number of television appearances when he finally got his big break on the series "Combat!" (1962).  The series was so successful he was even given the opportunity to direct a couple episodes.

When the series came to an end he continued to work as an actor, but found himself again being typecast as a Heavy and mostly limited to made for television movies.  He was also cast in a number of 'B' rated films such as "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" (1974), "Treasure of Matecumbe" (1976) and "The Bad News Bears" (1976) for which he earned great reviews.

His professional life was struggling and his personal life was not doing so well either, however he made a comeback with a role in "Twilight Zone: The Movie" (1983).  As things were beginning to get better career wise for him, he was killed in an accident while filming this movie, on July 23rd, 1982 in Indian Dunes, California while filming a scene.  A helicopter landed right on top of him and he was instantly killed along with two Vietnamese children in the cast.  He is interred at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City, California.

He left behind his two daughters, Carrie Ann Morrow and Jennifer Leigh Morrow.  He was not married at the time of his death, but had been married twice.  First to Barbara Turner from 1957 through 1964 and she was the mother of his two children.  His second wife was Gale Lester, however they were only married for a brief year.
