VALERIE PERRINE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Valerie Perrine was born on September 3rd, 1943 in Galveston, Texas with the birth name Valerie Ritchie Perrine to parents, Winifred McGinley and Kenneth Perrine. Her father was a lieutenant in the army and so she was raised in Japan where her father was stationed. As a teenager she moved out to Arizona and lived on a ranch.
Her career in entertainment began as a former Las Vegas showgirl. Soon she was getting cast in films such as "Slaughterhouse-Five" (1972) co-starring Michael Sacks, John Dehner, Ron Leibman, Eugene Roche, Sharon Gans and Perry King and this followed with a photo layout in Playboy Magazine in 1972.
Many remember her as the first female actress to show herself nude on American television by baring her breasts in 1973 during a Public Broadcasting Service of Bruce Jay Friedman's, "Steambath" which aired on Hollywood Television Theater.
Her career in the film industry continued with a role on "Lenny" (1974) co-starring Dustin Hoffman, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress. She continued to take on more film roles such as in, "W.C. Fields and Me" (1976) co-starring Rod Steiger, Jack Cassidy, Paul Stewart, Dana Elcar, John Marley, Bernadette Peters and Billy Barty, "Superman" (1978) starring alongside Christopher Reeve as Superman, as well as Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Glenn Ford, Phyllis Thaxter, Jackie Cooper, Marc McClure and Ned Beatty with Cameo appearances by Kirk Alyn and Noel Neill as Lois Lane's father and mother, "The Electric Horseman" (1979) starring Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, John Saxon and Willie Nelson, "Agency" (1980) also starring Robert Mitchum, Lee Majors and Alexandra Stewart and "The Border" (1982) which also starred Jack Nicholson, Warren Oates, Harvey Keitel and Dirk Blocker.
She continues to work in the industry with some of her latest roles being in the film "What Women Want" (2000) with Mel Gibson, "Superman II" (2006) the sequel to the 1978 superhero film "Superman" that stars Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Terence Stamp, Ned Beatty, Sarah Douglas, Margot Kidder, Jackie Cooper, Susannah York, E.G. Marshall, Marc McClure, Clifton James and Jack O'Halloran and made an appearance on, "Homicide: Life on the Street" (1995). Her latest work can be seen on the television series "Lights Out" (2011).
