VALERIE BERTINELLI BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Valerie Bertinelli was born on April 23rd, 1960 in Wilmington, Delaware with the middle name Anne, born to Nancy and Luke Bertinelli. During her teenage years, she was raised in Michigan, before later relocating with her family to Van Nuys, California for high school.
After making friends with a neighbor involved in the industry, she decided to enroll at the Tami Lynn School of Artists to study the art of acting. Soon she began auditioning for television and film work and was cast in the television series, "Apple's Way" (1974), "The CBS Festival of Lively Arts for Young People" (1978) and "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" (1978).
Her big break came when she was offered a part on the television series, "One Day at a Time". The show became highly popular and aired through 1984, launching her career path to a whole new level.
Along with working as a television actress she also began appearing in a number of feature films such as, "C.H.O.M.P.S." (1979), "Ordinary Heroes" (1986) and "Number One With a Bullet" (1987). Along with big screen films, Bertinelli also worked in a variety of television movies such as, "The Promise of Love" (1980), "Silent Witness" (1985), "Taken Away" (1989), "In a Child's Name" (1991) and "Murder of Innocence" (1993).
Most recently she has starred in the television series, "Touched by an Angel", "Boston Legal" and "Hot in Cleveland" portraying, Melanie Moretti. For this role, she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Along with her career as a working actress, she also has a production company called, Tuxedo Limited and was also the spokesperson for the weight loss company, Jenny Craig. She is also the author of the autobiography, "Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time" which released in 2008 followed by her next book, "Finding It: And Satisfying My Hunger for Life Without Opening the Fridge", which release in 2009.
Valerie Bertinelli resides in Los Angeles California and is married to her second husband, Tom Vitale since 2011. She was married once before to, Edward Van Halen, a musician from 1981 through 2005 and they have one son together, Wolfgang Van Halen.
