Tommy Kirk ACTOR

Tommy Kirk was born on December 10th, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky with the birth name Thomas Harvey Kirk.  At the age of thirteen a talent agent discovered him when he was performing in a play called, "Ah, Wilderness" at the Pasadena Playhouse.
It did not take long for his agents to get him noticed by Walt Disney who signed him to a contract.  He became part of the, "Mickey Mouse Club" television series in 1955 and was also cast in, "The Hardy Boys" serial.
As his career progressed he was seen in such films as, "Old Yeller" (1957), "The Shaggy Dog" (1959), "Swiss Family Robinson" (1960), "The Absent Minded Professor" (1961), "Babes in Toyland" (1961), "Misadventures of Merlin Jones" (1964) and "The Monkey's Uncle" (1965).
Sadly, when Disney found out that Tommy Kirk was homosexual and had been in a relationship with a fifteen year old boy, they released him from his contract right away and although Kirk tried to continue working in the industry, the industry had for the most part black listed him.
He was seen in such films as, "Village of the Giants" (1965), "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Giants" (1965), "It's a Bikini World" (1967), "Catalina Caper" (1967) and "Blood of Ghastly Horror" (1972), but none of his later roles reached the level of success he had become accustomed to.  He became very depressed and began to turn to drugs for comfort.  He decided to retire completely from the industry and was able to become sober and start a successful carpet and upholstery cleaning business.
In 2001 he returned to Hollywood and some of his more later roles were on such films as, "Billy Frankenstein" (1998), "Little Miss Magic" (1998), "Club Dead" (2000) and "The Education of a Vampire" (2001).

Tommy Kirk remains living in Los Angeles and has not returned to the big screen since 2001.
