TOM LONDON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Tom London was born on August 24th, 1889 in Louisville, Kentucky with the birth name Leonard Clapham.  Over his career he would appear in hundreds of western films and began riding horses at a very young age.
 
London's career as an actor began in his teenage years and he would add to his credits westerns and non western film roles totaling over 600 roles.  He actually acted in over 1000 roles, however many were un-credited.  He first worked with Selig Film Company when they were in Chicago and later relocated to Los Angeles with the company.
 
His small roles soon turned into more prominent roles and he began to make a name for himself in the industry.  In 1924, he took on the stage name Tom London and up until that point he was billed under his birth name during the silent era. 

He first really became a star during the 1920's appearing in the Red Ryder Series and portrayed mostly Boss Heavies and even added a comic act to his name.  He worked with such studio's as Republic and Monogram and his most recent roles prior to retiring were in such television series as, "Sergeant Preston of the Yukon", "The Cisco Kid", "Adventures of Superman", "Bat Masterson", "The Adventures of Kit Carson", "Fury", "Miami Undercover", "Cheyenne", "Annie Oakley", Cowboy G-Men", "Lawman", "The Dakotas", "Laramie", "Maverick", "Sugarfoot" and "Bronco".
 
London would appear in every genre of movie and some of the stars he shared the screean with were Ken Maynard in "Mystery Mountain (1934), Henry Fonda and Tyrone Power in "Jesse James" (1939), John Wayne, Claire Trevor and George Sanders in "Allegheny Uprising" (1939), Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy in "Boom Town" (1940), "Jesse James Rides Again" (1947) starring Clayton Moore of "The Lone Ranger" fame, "High Noon" (1952) starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly, "Tribute to a Bad Man" (1956) starring James Cagney, "The Sheepman" (1958) starring Glenn Ford and Shirley MacLaine along with Gene Autry, Tom Mix, Randolph Scott, Roy Rogers and a host of others.

Tom London married only once to Edith Stayart and he passed away on December 5th, 1963 in North Hollywood, California.
