TOM KEENE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Tom Keene was born on December 30th, 1896  in Rochester, New York with the birth name George Duryea.  After graduating from Columbia and Carnegie Tech in the late 1920's he relocated to Los Angeles, California and began looking for work as a film actor.
 
He began with roles on such films as "The Just a Little Late Club" (1923) and "The Godless Girl" (1923) followed by a number of western films such as "Sundown Trail" (1931) and "Our Daily Bread" (1934).  He never reached the level of stardom that some other western actors achieved but he still managed to earn a living as a decent actor.
 
Majority of his work was done with Monogram Pictures and Republic Studios and he also did some stage work.  During the 1940's he appeared in the film serial, "The Great Alaskan Mystery" and two Dick Tracy films, "Dick Tracy's Dilemma" and "Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome" (1947).   
 
Along with a number of film roles he also made numerous television appearances on "The Range Rider" starring Jock Mahoney, "Buffalo Bill Jr." starring Dickie Jones, "Judge Roy Bean" starring Edgar Buchanan and "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet". 
 
In the later part of his career he actually changed his stage name to Richard Powers which he thought would help him get away from his stereotypical western roles, however this just made him less known and less desirable.  His final film role was in "Plan 9 from Outer Space" (1959).       
 
By the late 1950's, he retired from the acting industry and chose to pursue other career interests such as working in real estate and insurance.  He married only once to Grace Stafford from 1919 to 1940 and then on August 4th, 1963 he passed away from cancer in Woodland Hills, California. He is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.
