TOM DRAKE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Tom Drake was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 5th, 1918 with the birth name Alfred Sinclair Alderdice. His film career began in the 1940's and lasted 30 decades.
he first became involved in acting by working as a stage actor and when he appeared on Broadway in the production, "Janie" (1942) he was discovered and signed to a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
Soon he began adding film credits such as, "Our Town" (1940) starring William Holden, Martha Scott, Thomas Mitchell, Frank Craven, Fay Bainter, Beulah Bondi and Stu Erwin, "Meet Me in St. Louis" (1944) starring Judy Garland, Margaret O'Brien, Mary Astor, Lucille Bremer, Leon Ames, Marjorie Main, June Lockhart and Joan Carroll, "Mrs. Parkington" (1944) co-starring Greer Garson, Walter Pidgeon, Peter Lawford, Agnes Moorehead, Edward Arnold, Cecil Kellaway, Dan Duryea, Hugh Marlowe and, "The Green Years" (1946) starring Charles Coburn, Hume Cronyn, Gladys Cooper, Andy Clyde, Wallace Ford, Henry O'Neill, Dean Stockwell, Beverly Tyler and Jessica Tandy, "Words and Music" (1948) also starring Mickey Rooney, Janet Leigh, Betty Garrett and Ann Sothern, "Warlock" (1959) starring Henry Fonda, Anthony Quinn, Dorothy Malone, Richard Widmark, Wallace Ford, Regis Toomey, Don 'Red' Barry, Richard Arlen, Whit Bissell, DeForest Kelley, Frank Gorshin, Dolores Michaels and Vaughn Taylor and "The Singing Nun" (1966) Debbie Reynolds, Ricardo Montalban, Katherine Ross, Chad Everett, Ed Sullivan, Agnes Moorehead and Greer Garson.
In addition to his film work he also appeared on a number of television dramas such as, "Schiltz Playhouse of Stars" (1959), "City Beneath the Sea" (1971) starring Stuart Whitman, Rosemary Forsyth, Robert Colbert, Burr DeBenning and Robert Wagner, "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" (1975), "Return of Joe Forrester" (1975), "Matter of Wife…and Death" (1976) and "Mayday at 40,000 Feet!" (1977).
Tom Drake passed away on August 11th, 1982 in Torrance, California after suffering from lung cancer. He married only once in 1945 to Isabelle Dunn and this marriage was short lived ending in 1946.
