TIM ROBBINS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Tim Robbins was born on October 16th, 1958 in West Covina, California with the birth name Timothy Francis Robbins, born to Gil Robbins a singer and actress, Mary Robbins. Tim was raised in New York City and by the age of twelve he was already pursuing acting working as a stage actor. He attended Stuyvesant High School and after earning his diploma, he relocated to Los Angeles where he studied drama at UCLA. In 1981 he earned his college degree and then formed the Actors' Gang theater group.
After gaining some experience as a stage actor he began working on television appearing in a number of television series such as, "St. Elsewhere" (1982), "At Ease" (1983), "Legmen" (1984), "Hardcastle and McCormick" (1984), "Santa Barbara" (1984) and "The Love Boat" (1984).
In addition to his early television roles hRobbins also added a number of film credits to his resume appearing on the big screen in, "Bull Durham" (1988) starring Kevin Costner and Susan Sanandon, "Cadillac Man" (1990) co-starring Robin Williams, "The Player" (1992), "Bob Roberts" (1992) and "The Hudsucker Proxy" (1994).
For his role in, "The Player", he won the Best Actor Award and his next big hit was in the film, "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994) co-starring with Morgan Freeman. His next award came in 2003 for his role in the film, "Mystic River", for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor.
Alongside his successful acting career has been an equally successful career as a writer, producer and director. He earned a Oscar nomination for Best Director for the film, "Dead Man Walking" (1995) starring Sean Penn, followed by directing such films as, "Cradle Will Rock" (1999) and the television series, "Queen Supreme" (2003).
Some of his most recent film roles include, "The Lucky One's" (2008), "Green Lantern" (2011), "Thanks for Sharing" (2012) and "1942" (2012). He has also added voice over credits on such television series as, "The Simpsons" (1999), "Jack and Bobby" (2005) and the film, "The Cradle Will Rock" (1999).
Not only has he made himself well known on the acting side of Hollywood, Robbins also released an album in 2010 titled, "Tim Robbins & The Rogues Gallery Band" which was a collection of songs from over twenty five years.
Tim Robbins has married only once to actress, Susan Sarandon whom and they have two sons together. In 2009, this marriage ended in divorce.
