SUSAN STRASBERG BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Susan Strasberg was born on May 22nd, 1938 in New York City, New York with the birth name Susan Elizabeth Strasberg. She was born to Lee Strasberg, a famous acting coach at the Actor's Studio and her mother was actress, Paula Strasberg.
Being born into a family very involved in the entertainment world, it only seemed normal that she would also choose to pursue a career as an actress. Before she was even twenty years old, she made her acting debut on the television series, "Goodyear Playhouse" (1951).
Four years later at the age of nineteen she was appearing on Broadway in such productions as, "Diary of Anne Frank" (1955). Soon she was cast in her film debut, "Picnic" (1955) starring William Holden.
As her career progressed she alternated between stage and film work. Some of her other more prominent film roles included, "The Cobweb" (1955), Stage Struck" (1958), "Disorder" (1962), "The Trip" (1967) and "So Evil, My Sister" (1974).
Strasberg also added a variety of television credits to her resume such as, "The Virginian", "Bonanza", "The F.B.I.", "Breaking Point", "Burke's Law', "Night Gallery", "Alias Smith & Jones" and "The Rockford Files" among others.
In addition to her career as an actress she was also a published author with two books.
Strasberg was also friends with Marilyn Monroe and appeared in three documentaries about her, "Marilyn Monroe: Beyond the Legend" (1987), "Remembering Marilyn" (1987) and "Marilyn Monroe: Life After Death" (1994).
Susan Strasberg married only once to Christopher Jones in 1965 and they had one daughter before the marriage came to an end in 1968. She did not re-marry and on January 21st, 1999 she passed away from breast cancer in New York City, New York at the age of sixty.
