SUSAN BLAKELY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Susan Blakely was born on September 7th, 1948 in Frankfurt, Germany. Her father, Colonel Lawrence Blakely served in the United States Army so growing up she lived in numerous places due to his type of work. After she completed high school she earned her college degree from the University of Texas and then relocated to New York City where she found work as a model being represented by Ford Agency. She also enrolled part time at the Neighborhood Playhouse and began to study acting.
It did not take long for Blakely to decide to relocate to Los Angeles, California and try and pursue a career as an actress. She first found work in a number of films getting small roles such as in, “Savages” (1972), and “The Way We Were” (1973).
Her break through role was in the film, “The Towering Inferno” (1974) and then she earned her first Golden Globe as well as an Emmy nomination for her role in the television series, “Rich Man, Poor Man” (1976). Blakely had now finally began to make a name for herself in Hollywood and she began to be the focus of a number of television movie roles such as in, “The Bunker” (1981), “Will There Really Be a Morning?” (1983), “The Ted Kennedy Jr. Story” (1986) and “Honor Thy Father and Mother: The True Story of the Menendez Murders” (1994).
She continues to work in the industry in films, television and even working as a stage actress. Blakely then also decided to start her own jewelry line. She has married twice throughout her lifetime. Her first husband was Todd Merer in 1969 then after that marriage ended in divorce she married, Steve Jaffe in 1982 and they remain together today and reside in Beverly Hills, California.
