SHARON STONE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Sharon Stone was born on March 10th, 1958 in Meadville, Pennsylvania with the birth name Sharon Yvonne Stone. She was the 2nd child out of four, born to parents, Dorothy and Joseph William Stone II. Her father was employed as a factory worker. She attended Saegertown High School and after graduated with a degree in creative writing and fine arts from Edinboro State University of Pennsylvania. Although she was highly intelligent and many people told her she should pursue a career as a lawyer, she had a love of film and acting and decided to enter herself in the Miss Pennsylvania beauty contest, which she ended up winning.
She moved to New Jersey to live with her aunt and it only took her four days to get Ford Modeling Agency to represent her. Soon she found work as a Ford Model and also appeared in a number of commercials. Stone then decided she wanted to pursue a career as an actress and therefore went back to New York after living in Europe modeling and began to try and break into the film industry.
Sharon made her film debut in, "Stardust Memories" (1980). Although, this was her first screen role, she did not have any lines. Her first film role with lines was in, "Deadly Blessing" (1981).
As her career progressed she was not being offered roles of much caliber. She had a small role on the television series, "Bay City Blues" (1983) and then the majority of her film roles at the start of her career were B rated films such as in, "King Solomon's Mines" (1985) and "Action Jackson" (1988), however in 1990 she got a break when she was cast in the film, "Total Recall" with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Between taking on this role and making a choice to pose nude at the age of thirty two in Playboy, Stone was now finally beginning to get offered better film roles. Some of her more well known work as her career progressed were on such feature films as, "Basic Instinct" (1992) starring Michael Douglas, "Sliver" (1993), "Intersection" (1994), "The Specialist" (1994), "The Quick and the Dead" (1995) and she played a drug crazy wife to actor Robert De Niro in the film, "Casino" (1995), which earned Stone her first Golden Globe and Oscar nomination
Finally critics in Hollywood were beginning to take her more seriously not just as a beautiful woman but also as a talented actress. She continued to take on film roles and did not limit herself to any specific type of film or character. Some of her other roles have been on, "Diabolique" (1996), "Last Dance" (1996) and "The Mighty" earning another Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Along with making a successful career as an actress she also owns her own production company, Chaos. Stone has married three times, although her first marriage to George Englund Jr. was short lived. She then married Michael Greenburg in 1984 and they were together for only three years. Her third husband was Phil Bronstein from 1998 through 2004 and she has one son from this marriage.
Sharon Stone has received a number of honors such as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and People magazine listed her as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world. In 1995 Empire chose her as one of the 100 sexiest stars in film history.
Stone lost custody of her son to Bronstein, but does still see him and continues to work in the industry just not taking on as many roles. A 2nd Basic Instinct film was made, but it turned out to be unsuccessful. Stone has said publicly she would love to direct and star in a third Basic Instinct film, but that has yet to be determined.
In 2010, she took on a role on the television series, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and her latest appearance was in 2011 in, "Waco". Sharon Stone is also very involved in charitable causes and currently resides in Beverley Hills.
