SALLY KELLERMAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Sally Kellerman was born on June 2nd, 1937 in Long Beach, California with the birth name Sally Claire Kellerman, born to Edith Baine and John Helm Kellerman. After graduating from Hollywood High School, Kellerman studied briefly at Los Angeles City College and later relocated to New York to study acting at the Actor's Studio (along with fellow actors Jeff Corey, Shirley Knight, Jack Nicholson, Dean Stockwell and Robert Blake) and in 1957 at the age of twenty she debuted in her first film, "Reform School Girl" starring Gloria Castillo, Ross Ford and Edd Byrnes.
Soon Kellerman was adding such television credits to her resume with appearances on, "Bachelor Father" (1960) starring John Forsythe, Noreen Corcoran, Sammee Tong and Jimmy Boyd, "Lock Up" (1961) starring Macdonald Carey, "Surfside 6" (1961) starring Troy Donahue, Diane McBain, Lee Patterson, Margarita Sierra and Van Williams, "Cheyenne" (1962) starring Clint Walker, "I'm Dickens, He's Fenster" (1963) starring Marty Ingels and John Astin, "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" (1963) and "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre" (1963) and the highly touted and successful television miniseries "Centennial" (1978-1979) with a star-studded ensemble cast including Raymond Burr, Richard Chamberlain, Robert Conrad, Barbara Carrera, Richard Crenna, Timothy Dalton, Sharon Gless, Andy Griffith, Mark Harmon, Gregory Harrison, David Janssen, Alex Karras, Brian Keith, Stephen McHattie, Lois Nettleton, Donald Pleasence, Adrienne La Russa, Lynn Redgrave, Robert Vaughn, Dennis Weaver, Anthony Zerbe and Stephanie Zimbalist.
Along with now earning a name for herself in the industry as a television actress she also began appearing on such films as, "The Third Day" (1965) starring George Peppard, Roddy McDowall, Herbert Marshall, Arthur O'Connell, Robert Webber, Charles Drake, Arte Johnson and Elizabeth Ashley, "The Lollipop Cover" (1965) starring Don Gordon, Carol Seflinger and George Sawaya, "The Boston Strangler" (1968) starring alongside Tony Curtis, Henry Fonda, George Kennedy, Jeff Corey, Murray Hamilton, William Marshall, Alex Rocco and James Brolin, "The April Fools" (1969) co-starring Jack Lemmon, Catherine Deneuve, Harvey Korman, Peter Lawford, Myrna Loy, Jack Weston and Charles Boyer, and her biggest role up to that point in her career portraying, Major Margaret 'Hot-Lips' Houlihan on the film, "MASH" (1970) co-starring Donald Sutherland, Tom Skerritt, Elliott Gould, Robert Duvall, Rene Auberjonois, Roger Bowen, Gary Burghoff, Bobby Troup and in his film debut, football player Fred Williamson. For this role, she was awarded a Kansas City Film Critics Circle Award, a Golden Laurel Award and received an Oscar as well as a Golden Globe nomination for her performance.
As her career progressed, Kellerman began to add more substantial film roles to her resume such as, "Brewster McCloud" (1970) co-starring William Windom, Stacy Keach, Jennifer Salt, Margaret Hamilton, Bud Cort, Michael Murphy and Shelley Duvall, "Last of the Red Hot Lovers" (1972) starring with Alan Arkin and Paula Prentiss and Renee Taylor, "Welcome to L.A." (1976), "A Little Romance" (1979), "Back to School" (1986) starring Rodney Dangerfield, Keith Gordon, Burt Young, William Zabka, Ned Beatty, Sam Kinison, Adrienne Barbeau, M. Emmet Walsh and Robert Downey Jr., "Prêt-à-Porter (1994), "Point of Betrayal" (1995), "It's My Party" (1996), "The Maze" (1997) and "The Lay of the Land" (1997).
Now, Kellerman was quite successful not only as a television actress, but a film actress as well. She continues to work as an actress in both realms and has never limited herself to portraying one specific type of character.
In addition to her career as an actress in she has released two albums, one in 1969 and the other in 2009. She has also recorded songs for the films, "Brewster Cloud" (1970), "Lost Horizon" (1973) starring Peter Finch, John Gielgud, George Kennedy, Liv Ullmann, Michael York, Bobby Van, George Kennedy, Olivia Hussey, James Shigeta and Charles Boyer, "Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins" (1975), "You Can't Hurry Love" (1988), "Boris and Natasha" (1992), "Open House" (2004) and "Night Club" (2011).
Sally Kellerman has married twice, first in 1970 to Rick Edelstein however by 1975 this marriage came to an end. She then married Jonathon D. Krane in 1980 and together they have two children and she remains working today as both an actress and singer, touring and performing live around New York, New Jersey and Atlanta.
Some of her most recent appearances being on the television series, "90210" (2011), "Law & Order: LA" (2011), "Chemistry" (2011) and "Unsupervised" (2012).
