RICHARD KILEY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Richard Kiley was born on March 31st, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois with the birth name Richard Paul Kiley. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago in 1940 and then enrolled at Loyola University but left after only one year to study drama at Chicago's Barnum Dramatic School.
He first became involved in acting as a stage performer, performing in a number of summer stock theaters. He then took a brief break from acting to join the Navy and serve his country. Upon completing his military service, Kiley went right back to pursuing a career as an actor.
Soon he relocated to New York City and was working on such stage productions as "Kismet", "No Strings", "I Had a Ball" and "Redhead". He was also a very talented singer and later in his career he became the first to sing and record the very popular song, "The Impossible Dream".
Kiley is most well known for his voice work as the narrator for a variety of documentary series such as, "Mysteries of the Bible" (1994-1998) and also playing the role of, Don Quixote in the 1965 musical, "Man of La Mancha". His voice can also be heard at Universal Studio's in Orlando Florida on the Jurassic Park River Ride.
Throughout his career in the industry he won two Golden Globe Awards, three Emmy's and two Tony Awards. He had several television credits added to his resume such as, "The Thorn Birds", "A Year in the Life", "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".
He married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Mary Bell Wood from 1948 through 1967 and together they had six children. He then married Patricia Ferrier in 1968 and they remained married until he passed away on March 5th, 1999 in Warwick, New York after suffering from bone marrow disease.
