RICHARD ERDMAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Richard Erdman was born on June 1st, 1925 in Enid, Oklahoma with the birth name John Richard Erdmann. He was raised in Colorado and from an early age developed an interest in acting.
At the age of fifteen he moved to Los Angeles, California with his mother in hopes of pursuing a career as an actor. His career did not take off right away. His first film role came after he worked for a while as a sports reporter for the Los Angeles Examiner.
Soon he was adding such film roles to his resume as, "Janie" (1944) with Robert Hutton, Edward Arnold, Ann Harding, Hattie McDaniel, Robert Benchley, Jackie Moran, Sunset Carson, Julie London, Virginia Sale Alan Hale Sr. and Andy Williams "Stalag 17" (1953) starring William Holden, Don Taylor, Robert Strauss, Neville Brand, Harvey Lembeck, Sig Ruman, Otto Preminger, Gil Stratton and Peter Graves, "Four Days Leave" (1950) starring Cornel Wilde, Josette Day, Alan Hale Jr. and Simone Signoret, "The Steel Lady" (1953) starring Rod Cameron, Tab Hunter, John Dehner, Frank Puglia, John Abbott and Anthony Caruso, "Anything Goes" (1956) starring Bing Crosby, Donald O'Connor, Jeanmaire, Phil Harris, Nancy Kulp, James Griffith and Mitzi Gaynor, "Face of Fire" (1959) starring Cameron Mitchell, James Whitmore, Bettye Ackerman, Royal Dano, Lois Maxwell and Robert F. In addition to film work he has appeared on such television series as, "Medic", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "The Tab Hunter Show", "The Twilight Zone", "Where's Raymond?", "Perry Mason", "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "Saints and Sinners", "Wings", "December Bride", "Not for Hire", "The Untouchables", "Petticoat Junction", "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Mr. Terrific", "Green Acres", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and most recently on the series, "Community" portraying the character, Leonard.
Erdman remains working as an actor and has also done numerous voice over projects for a number of television cartoons such as, "Capital Critters", "The Pirates of Dark Water", "Timeless Tales from Hallmark", "Duck Tales", "Wildfire" and "Johnny Quest" among others. He has also done voice over work for the short film, "The Nativity" (1987) and the film, "The Pagemaster" (1994).
Richard Erdman has married twice, first in 1948 to Leza Holland and they remained together until 1950. He then married Sharon Randall in 1953 and they had one child, who passed away in her sleep from an accidental overdose of prescription drug medication, at the age of fifty five. The couple remains together today.
