RICHARD ANDERSON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Richard Anderson was born on August 8th, 1926 in Long Branch, New Jersey with the middle name Norman, born to Olga and Harry Anderson. He first developed an interest in acting during high school where he would participate in a number of the school theatrical productions. After graduating from high school he decided to join the United States Army and upon completing his military service he went back to what he had begun to love, performing.
Anderson performed in summer stock and also found work in radio and some small roles in the films, "La Perla" (1947) and "Twelve O'Clock High" (1949) starring Gregory Peck, Dean Jagger, Gary Merrill and Hugh Marlowe. In 1950, he was offered a contract with MGM Studios and began appearing on such television series as, "Perry Mason" starring Raymond Burr, "The Fugitive", "The Six Million Dollar Man" starring Lee Majors, "The Bionic Woman" starring Lindsay Wagner, "Wagon Train", "Bus Stop", " Wanted: Dead or Alive " starring Steve McQueen, "The Rifleman" starring Chuck Connors, Johnny Crawford and Paul Fix, "Columbo" starring Peter Falk, "Hawaii Five-O" starring Jack Lord and James MacArthur, "Cimarron Strip" starring Stuart Whitman and "The Fugitive" starring David Janssen among many others.
He also worked in films with some of his more popular roles being on, "Fearless Fagan" (1952), "I Love Melvin" (1953), "Forbidden Planet" (1956) starring Leslie Nielsen, Jack Kelly, Walter Pidgeon and Anne Francis, "Paths of Glory" (1957) starring Kirk Douglas and E.G. Marshall, "The Long, Hot Summer" (1958) starring Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Anthony Franciosa and Lee Remick, "Curse of the Faceless Man" (1958), "Compulsion" (1959) starring Orson Welles, Dean Stockwell, E.G. Marshall and Bradford Dillman, "A Gathering of Eagles" (1963) starring Rock Hudson, Rod Taylor, Barry Sullivan and Mary Peach, "Kitten With a Whip" (1964) and "Tora! Tora! Tora" (1970).
Anderson has married twice, first to Carol Lee Ladd from 1955 through 1956. He then married Katharine Thalberg in 1961 and they had three daughters before the marriage came to an end in 1973.
Most recently, he has appeared on the television series, "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" (1993-1997), "Extreme Ghostbusters" (1997) and "Unhappily Ever After" (1998).
Since 1998 Richard Anderson has retired from acting, however he is the spokesperson for the Kiplinger Newsletter and the Fragile X Foundation as well as serving on the Board of Directors of the Veteran's Park.
