REESE WITHERSPOON BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22nd, 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana with the birth name Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon to parents, Dr. John Witherspoon and Betty Reese.  She had one sibling and her early childhood years were spent in Germany where he father worked as a military surgeon and served as Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves.
 
As a young girl she became involved in the show businesses industry starting out with modeling.  By the age of eleven she was already making numerous television appearances on local stations.
 
By 1990, Reese was cast in her first major film role, "The Man in the Moon" (1991) portraying a fourteen year old tomboy.  She gained a significant amount of attention from film critics and larger and more prominent film roles followed such as, "Jack the Bear" (1993) and "A Far Off Place" (1993).
 
Although she was working as an actress throughout her teenage years, Reese still managed to get a regular education and graduated from Harpeth Hall in 1994 which was an all girls school in Nashville, Tennessee.  She briefly took a break from acting to pursue a degree in English at Stanford, however when major film roles were being offered to her, she chose not to pass up on the opportunity.  Therefore, Reese soon starred in, "Fear" (1996) and "Freeway" (1996).  
 
Neither film was a major huge financial success, however, they did establish Reese in Hollywood as an up and coming film actress and she began getting offers for more film roles such as, "Pleasantville" (1998), "Cruel Intentions" (1999) and "Election" (1999), which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. 
 
She is most remembered for her role as Elle Woods in the comedy, "Legally Blonde" (2001) which was a huge success and she followed this role with another huge film success, "Sweet Home Alabama" (2002) and "Just Like Heaven" (2004).  In 2005, Reese won the Best Actress Oscar for her role portraying June Carter Cash in the film, "Walk the Line".
 
Some of her more recent roles have been in 2008 in the films, "Penelope", "Four Christmases" (2008), "How Do You Know" (2010) and "Pharm Girl" (2011), which she not only produces but will also star in.
 
Along with having a successful acting career, Reese also opened her own production company called, Type A Films.  She also dedicated a lot of her time to charitable causes such as children's and women's advocacy organizations such as serving on the Board of Children's Defense Fund.
 
Reese Witherspoon has married twice, first to Ryan Phillippe in 1999 and they had two children together, Ava Elizabeth and Deacon.  The couple ended their marriage in 2008.  She then went on to marry Jim Toth, a talent agent in 2011 and they remain together today.
 
In 2010, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  She has also received a number of other honors throughout her career such as Forbes putting her on the top ten Trustworthy Celebrities list and has also been featured in People magazines, "100 Most Beautiful".
